In this volume Matt and Mick go after river pike, fishing on the River Wye. Using float and jerk techniques, the boys fish well into the night and Micks hard work eventually pays off when he lands a pike in the dark. Then its on to Horseshoe Lake in Gloucestershire in search of tench and rudd. After a very difficult stalking session, Matt reels in a personal best rudd at 3lb 2oz, very big by todays standards. Finally, on the Dorset Stour after a good bag of chub and pike, hopes are failing for a grayling, so an urgent trip across country to the River Test is made. Will their patience be rewarded?
